Hurricane Ivan Slams Pensacola Area

As I'm sure you know by now, Hurricane Ivan caused severe damage to the Pensacola area, including Pensacola Beach when it made landfall on September 16, 2004.

It appears that the entire island was over-washed by sand and surf (the island is only about 1/4 mile wide in places, more or less).

One of my favorite places to stay is Baywatch. Reports I have read indicate some damage to the individual condos. Residents are starting to complain about the poor construction of Baywatch by it's builders. As they should. Sometimes these things aren't evident until something such as Ivan exposes them.

Below is a link to some pictures taken around Pensacola Beach and surrounding areas. Pictures are copyright of their respective owners and their copyrights should be respected. I had no part in producing the pictures. Just wanted to provide a link to give you a look.
